At the Malaysian Auto Show 2023, ET + discussed a memorandum of strategic cooperation with local electric vehicle charging operators, and announced that they will jointly layout the charging infrastructure network in multiple scenarios, especially to build an ultra-fast charging network in the road scene.
This is the epitome of domestic charging pile enterprises to accelerate the layout of overseas markets. Under the trend of green automobile and transportation reform, "going out" of China's new energy vehicle industry chain has become a bright spot. The reporter learned that charging pile enterprises actively go overseas, behind not only carrying the Chinese enterprises "go out", but also the overseas charging pile market to build the "call". However, in order for these charging pile enterprises to play their advantages of technology and supply chain in overseas markets, they need to accurately understand the local rules and needs, and do a good job in localized layout and services.
■ Overseas "more cars and less piles"
According to a recent report released by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), the EU added more than 150,000 new public charging piles for electric vehicles in 2023, with a total ownership of more than 630,000. ACEA predicts that, the EU will need 8.8 million public charging piles to meet consumer demand by 2030, equivalent to 1.2 million more a year, eight times the amount installed last year.
"We have lagged charging infrastructure behind sales of pure electric vehicles in recent years, and we are very worried."More importantly, the lack of charging infrastructure may expand further," said Sigrid de Vries), in the future, far more than the Commission's estimates.
At present, while the world shares new opportunities for electric vehicles, local governments are also facing a gap in charging infrastructure construction to varying degrees. According to the International Energy Agency IEA, there will be 5.5 million public fast charging piles and 10 million public slow charging piles to be built worldwide by 2030.
In order to realize the domestic strategic planning of electric vehicles and meet the growing demand for electric vehicles, overseas countries are also launching relevant policies to promote the construction of charging piles and stimulate growth from the policy end. For example, according to the public charging infrastructure construction plan proposed by the Austrian Electric Vehicle Industry Association, one quick charging pile per 60 km by 2035; in the face of rapid growth of electric vehicles and serious lag in charging infrastructure construction, the relevant departments call on overseas enterprises to cooperate in promoting infrastructure construction.
■ Going out to sea has become a trend
Tong Zongqi, deputy secretary general of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, said that there are two ways to "go out": one is to follow the car enterprises to "go out", go with piles or act as the local service provider for car enterprises; the other is to use foreign dealer network or relevant resources to export.
With the growth of overseas charging pile procurement demand, charging pile has become one of the foreign trade products with the highest conversion rate on the major cross-border e-commerce platforms. Therefore, ET + has also entered many mainstream cross-border e-commerce platforms to achieve performance breakthroughs.
